Lagos Lights Up in Afro-Brazilian Style
FANTI CARNIVAL RETURNS WITH A BANG
Lagos Island was LIT this Easter Sunday! If you missed it, you seriously missed out on the cultural comeback of the year. The legendary Fanti Carnival made a fabulous return and trust us, it was everything and more! Color, rhythm, energy, and culture came alive as the heartbeat of Lagos pulsed with Afro-Brazilian pride.
Set against the historic backdrop of Remembrance Arcade, the carnival was a full-on celebration of identity and heritage, where tradition met vibes. From locals and tourists to community leaders and cultural troupes, the streets were packed with people dancing, cheering, and soaking in the cultural magic.

My culinary escapades remain unforgettable! No visit to Lagos is complete without indulging in its culinary delights, street vendors tempted me with Suya, a spicy meat skewer, while the local Bukas offered comforting bowls of Amala, Ewedu accompanied with Gbegiri and Ogufe (goat meat). Every meal felt like a celebration of the city's rich culinary heritage, a taste of its soul.

FANTI CARNIVAL RETURNS WITH A BANG
This year’s theme, “Heritage and Unity,” wasn’t just a slogan, it was a whole experience.
Thanks to the Lagos State Government, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, and the Brazilian Descendants Association of Lagos Island, the city’s deep Afro-Brazilian roots were proudly on display.
